Home Office research suggests 1 in 5 students overstay their visa. This conclusion was used as a springboard for the Immigration Minister, Damian Green, to conclude that student migration is 'out of control'.
Home Office research suggests 1 in 5 students overstay their visa. This conclusion was used as a springboard for the Immigration Minister, Damian Green, to conclude that student migration is 'out of control'.

Green went on to say that student migration is failing to attract the 'brightest and best' with only half of international students pursing courses at degree level or above.

Green will look at significantly reducing the number of students entering the UK. It is yet unclear how he will do this although the number of students studying below degree level may be his focus. If so, this will impact greatly on English schools and smaller colleges.
