The Lib Dems also campaigns on a "route to citizenship" that would allow people who have been in Britain for 10 years, who speak English, who have a clean record and who want to live here long term to "earn" citizenship. The PM said this would encourage more people to come to Britain illegally while David Cameron suggests it would trigger a big increase in asylum claims, while a leading think tank, ippr, says it would take 20 years and cost £5 billion to remove 500,00 people living here illegally...

All parties would bring in exit checks - or embarkation controls - on everyone leaving the country...
