Visiting the UK

A visitor is a person who is coming to the UK, usually for up to six months, for a temporary purpose, for example as a tourist, to visit friends or family or to carry out a business activity.

The visitor rules are set out the Immigration Rules. Non-visa nationals, such as US, Argentina and New Zealand nationals, do not need to apply for a visa for short visits to the UK. They can stay in the UK for up to six months, unless they want to get married or form a civil partnership during their visit. In that case they will have to apply for a special visa.

The Immigration Rules provides for four different types of visits:

Standard Visitor
Marriage Visitor
Paid Engagements Visitor
Transit Visitor

I had a very good discussion with Seraphus. They succeeded in making me feel better and less anxious about the whole process. Thank you for providing a service at a reasonable price, it provides peace of mind about what my time in this country will be.
