Our aim is to further the understanding of migration being a beneficial right for everyone. By working across sectors from frontline civil society organisations to the European Commission, we make legal advice accessible. Our work at a local level means we reach those who most need it to secure their rights. Our work at a regional and national level with policy-focused organisations means our legal analysis is used by those with structural power to advocate for rights. 

Our strength is our legal expertise developed from over 20 years of legal casework by our team of lawyers across England and Scotland. This knowledge, coupled with our participation in community and policy stakeholder groups, means we deliver ground-up insightful legal policy work. By analysing the implementation of law and policy, we define legal and policy changes needed for people to access their rights.

Kanlungan

The charity Kanlungan works to promote the welfare and social conditions of Filipino and Southeast Asian migrants in the UK, alleviate social and economic hardships, and to raise awareness of the conditions in the Philippines that engender forced migration.  Seraphus works with Kanlungan on the Pathways to Settlement project (funded by Trust for London), to deliver high quality legal assistance to a community which may otherwise find professional legal advice inaccessible. Our immigration lawyers deliver advice sessions offering one-off legal advice which allows service users to get a clear understanding of their immigration status and possible next steps from a trusted and credible source.

Latin American House

Latin American House serves as a community centre for Latin Americans in London and the local community. Offering a variety of services including legal and social advice it aims to be a source of support and information for the Latin American community in the UK.  As partner to Latin American House on the Pathways to Settlement project (funded by Trust for London), Seraphus delivers fortnightly advice sessions to communities otherwise socially and financially excluded from legal assistance. Our lawyers provide trusted one-off legal advice so service users can make informed choices about their immigration status and plan for their future in the UK.

New Europeans

The charity New Europeans UK offers legal advice and support to EU Citizens to secure their rights in the UK. They provide much needed legal advice to vulnerable communities in Leicester; an area with one of the largest groups of EU/EEA citizens outside London, including high numbers of citizens with pre-settled status and from nationalities disproportionally affected by refused applications.   With expertise in the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) Seraphus is supporting New Europeans to create a local and sustainable legal advice network in Leicester by providing training sessions to local community groups pursuing immigration legal advice qualifications. Seraphus also offers second tier legal advice on complex matters to locally based New Europeans immigration lawyers.

St Mungo’s

St Mungo’s is a charity working to end homelessness and rough sleeping and support people to rebuild their lives. Recognising that people in destitution often face multiple barriers or vulnerabilities, their approach is holistic and includes outreach work, legal and social advice. Seraphus supports St Mungo’s on the Migrant Accommodation Pathways Support Service by providing immigration advice to non-UK nationals rough sleeping across London. Our lawyers provide one-off assessments as well as ongoing casework to support people understand their rights and help them out of homelessness.

S.A.F.E Project

A three-year partnership between Seraphus, Here for Good, and Wilsons Solicitors, the S.A.F.E (Strategic Alliance for Europeans) project aims to challenge systemic injustices that put EU citizens who are not fully protected by the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) at risk.    As a part of this strategic legal work, Seraphus, with expertise in the EUSS and legal policy are working with partners to improve and broaden the EUSS to protect the rights of marginalised and vulnerable people currently excluded from the EU Settlement Scheme and influence wider immigration law to benefit this group.
