The sessions aimed to improve understanding, access, and outcomes for migrants navigating the UK’s digital immigration system by directly engaging frontline advisers and migrant communities themselves. Over 100 advisers from more than 50 organisations across Scotland took part, with all reporting increased knowledge and confidence. Delivered in partnership with over 10 organisations and academics, the sessions combined legal expertise with practical insights to improve outcomes across areas such as housing, welfare, employability, and community support.

Pre-Settled Status Holders under the EUSS
This online session brought together 27 participants from organisations across Edinburgh, Glasgow, and wider Scotland to discuss the challenges faced by individuals with Pre-Settled Status under the EU Settlement Scheme. Speakers from Seraphus and Child Poverty Action Group highlighted issues such as limited rights, risks of losing status, and barriers to welfare support, while exploring strategies to strengthen advocacy and support for EU citizens.

Supporting Someone with a Digital Status
This session explored how to support migrants navigating digital-only immigration status, with a focus on challenges faced by those with limited digital skills. Citizens Advice Scotland highlighted common issues in accessing support, while New Europeans UK shared research on the role of third sector organisations. Over 50 participants from across Scotland joined the discussion, with speakers from Seraphus, Citizens Advice Scotland, and New Europeans UK.

Caseworker Sessions on Digital Immigration in Aberdeen and Glasgow
This event provided guidance to caseworkers supporting migrants in navigating their digital immigration status. It was delivered in Aberdeen and Glasgow in partnership with Citizens’ Rights Project and Citizens Advice Scotland.

Third Sector Employers: Recruiting and Employing Migrants
This session offered guidance to charities and voluntary sector organisations on the different routes for recruiting and employing non-UK born individuals. It also highlighted key barriers migrants face in both accessing the labour market and within the workplace. 26 participants attended from organisations across Scotland, including Edinburgh, Glasgow, and the Grampian region and featured speakers from Seraphus, Capital City Partnership and Grampian Regional Equality Council.

Migrants’ rights made clear: A workshop for community advisers
This session offered a comprehensive overview of migrant rights and the barriers created when immigration needs overlap with other challenges. Special attention was given to the experiences of migrant women experiencing domestic abuse and young migrants in Scotland, highlighting obstacles in education, work, mental health, and the impact of uncertain status. We welcomed 82 attendees from across Scotland including Dundee, Glasgow, Falkirk, West Lothian, Edinburgh.
