If you are a non-visa national, including European, EEA and Swiss nationals you can visit the UK for up to 6 months without applying for a visit visa beforehand, but you must only engage in permitted activities and may be questioned about the purpose of your visit. Non-visa nationals are subject to the Electronic Travel Authorisation system.

If you are from outside these regions, a Visitor visa is required for entering the UK, allowing for various purposes such as family visits, tourism, business, and studying courses for up to 6 months, while non-visa nationals may need to apply for entry clearance based on nationality.

    You can visit the UK with a Standard Visitor visa if you are travelling to the UK as a tourist. A Tourist visa is another term for a Visitor visa, it is not a different type of visa.
